The Scope of Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) Course covers the study of preventative, curative and promotional aspects of physical, mental and social health through the Unani System of Medicine.
The Unani system is based on the teachings of Hippocrates (460-377 BC), and its philosophy is based on the principals of four elements (air, water, fire and earth) and four humors (blood, black bile, yellow bile and phlegm).
According to this system, good health is achieved when there is a balance of these elements and humors in the body. The BUMS course curriculum includes subjects such as anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathology, Community Medicine and Surgery. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to diagnose and treat patients using the principles of the Unani system.
