Getting a seat in a medical college to pursue MBBS in Tamil Nadu is a dream of many students in the state. The total number of MBBS seats in Tamil Nadu is determined by the Government of India, the Medical Council of India, the Central Board of Secondary Education, the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations, and the state-level Director of Medical Education. The majority of the MBBS Seats in Tamil Nadu are offered by 22 Government colleges and 11 Private Medical Colleges.
The majority of the MBBS Undergraduate Seats in the Government Medical Colleges in Tamil Nadu are offered on the basis of Merit Scores or Rank achieved in the NEET-UG Result. It is to be noted that Private Medical Colleges are self-financed and considered as less prestigious than the Government Colleges. The admission process of Private Medical Colleges takes longer than the Government Medical Colleges.
